Clean, compact and compelling, Singapore seamlessly combines the best of Asia. Different cultures and cuisines live side by side, while maintaining their own identity.
Behind the bright lights of Chinatown is cheap and delicious dim sum, while Little India is a sensation for the senses. Wander past the pastel-painted facades of Malay-dominated Geylang Seari for a taste of days gone by, then stop off at the Colonial-style Raffles Hotel, birthplace of the Singapore Sling cocktail.

Far too hot (and we are used to a hot climate.
Far too hot (and we are used to a hot climate. Become very crowded since our last visit 28 years ago.
MRT (Metro) wonderful way to get around. The city has lost its feel with skyscrapers all around and quite expensive.
This generation are less courteous than the previous but we were often offered seats on the transport as we are in our late 70s. Lots more pushing and no consistent side of the path when people are walking. While there are fines for many rules inSingapore there seems to be no respect for them any more.

Located close to Metro, and in walking distance from Merlion...
Located close to Metro, and in walking distance from Merlion and Marina Bay Sands. The staff were really helpful and available 24/7. Loved the Water garden at Marina Bay Sands. Loved the Marina Bay Sands Mall, the Rooftop restaurant, the Apple Store shaped like a glass apple floating on the marina. Loved the cleanliness of food halls and that smoking is in seperate areas. The fruits were fresh and sweet. We had a bit of trouble getting tickets on the trains with our NZ Mastercard. If we had more time we would have worked it out and travelled to Sentosa or other places. Wed probably stay closer to the marina next time and in a bigger hotel. It was a bit small for us. Otherwise had a great time in Sinagapore.

Singapore offers so much, lots to do and see.
Singapore offers so much, lots to do and see. The Metro is clean, easy to use and cheap to get around. The city is clean and the people are so friendly! When-ever we got lost we just asked someone and every person was helpful and courteous. It gave us such a good feeling about Singapore. The hawker markets are so cheap and easy to find something we wanted to eat, the food delicious, we wished we had eaten there more but had restaurants booked. The food choice is amazing in Singapore. We stayed in Chinatown and just loved walking around our hotel, absorbing the feel and character of the neighbourhood.

As a world traveler, I rate Singapore as one of the top...
As a world traveler, I rate Singapore as one of the top cities in the world to visit. At the top of the list is eating and dining. Whether at hawker stalls- yes, they are rated by health ministry- or Michelin star restaurants, you will find everything you can ask for. The transit system is the best in the world. The city is exceptionally clean and safe. There are great museums, fantastic architecture and sites.
I recommend finding a tour guide for at least a half day to best understand this marvelous contemporary city and its history, food and people.
I eont understand the bad reviews and was very hesitant to book this place. I only booked one night to find out but regretted that it was booked out the other day. I stayed at 3 other hotels in the area and this is my favourite in terms of budget and value for money.
Staff was cety friendly. Clean bathroom and room, no humidity or smell, good Internet. Modern furniture, decent bed and little Snack Bar. I will definitely book this place again and after multiple times in Singapore I finally found a budget hotel option to stay longer. Thanks.
We booked ourselves one night in Singapore to travel on afterwards. The hotel was perfectly adequate for that. It was clean, the location is good and the staff is friendly. The bathroom was very clean and it was great to have shampoo, soap and shower gel. We appreciated that very much. The beds are also very comfortable, so you slept well. The connection to trains is also very convenient. In general, we found it difficult to find hotels in Singapore for good value for money, as everything is quite high-priced.
No breakfast included. in fact, there was not a restaurant on the property. It is mostly a large office building with long-term residence and only a few floors devoted to the hotel. However, 50 feet away from the entrance was a hawkers pavilion with fabulous local food from multiple stalls at ridiculously cheap prices. Even if there were a restaurant, I would recommend going to the hawkers stalls instead!
Also, there was a laundromat on the ninth floor which was super convenient.
No windows. I booked it as I was travelling solo and the price of hotels in Singapore is ridiculous. I was prepared not to expect anything much from Hotel 81, just some dodgy stares from other occupants who seemed high on some substance. I was prepared to hear thumping noises from around but it was unexpectedly quiet, which was good. I know the neighbourhood well as I grew up around there, good for solo self reflecting walks at night.
Perfect location. Very close to Chinatown MRT and Clark Quay MRT stations. Walking distance to Chinatown. The hotel building connects with Chinatown Point and People's Park so you can walk under the roof to MRT stations. Which is great because it rains a lot in Singapore. Every floor provides a drinking water dispenser that you can use for free. The room size is large compared to other hotels in the same location.
All the staff are friendly and accomodating, Jannah is really nice as well as the others. I love the location, as a first timer in Singapore, I manage to visit nice places using public transportation (train) as it is just walking distance from the hotel. They have washing machine in the room and things for cooking. Pool is superb, gym and sauna. They also have massage chair that is good after long day of walking.
Rooms are small but fine if you’re not carrying a ton of luggage. Bathrooms are tiny, but I’ve stayed in expensive “boutique” hotels in Europe that are the same. The building is quite new, so everything was in good condition. The location is great for experiencing a funkier, less gleaming side of Singapore, with tons of street side restaurants a minute’s walk away.
The amazing pools and how family friendly the hotel is. From check in to the day we left, service from all staff was warm and friendly. The room that we booked weren’t available, hotel offered complimentary breakfast and late checkout. Not many hotels in Singapore provides bidet in their toilets, the Toto Bidet made the stay even more awesome.
It's a decent hotel, much better than other "budget" hotels you can find in Singapore.
The room I lived in is very bright with 2 windows. The room size is not bad as a budget hotel. There is a desk and a chair with a roof light above. Not bad for working remotely.
If your room is in the rear end, there is no road noise at all.
As a former hotelier retired en traveling solo, i enjoyed the place and the location, the young personnel some Malaysian makle and females were very hospitable, compare to other hotels in same rate category I experience in Singapore.
It was some renovation work taking place especially in the bath rooms which were very small.
Location is great if you want to be right in the middle of Orchard road.
That's about the best I can say, there are loads of great hotels in Singapore but this is not one of them.
Room was super average, shower was crap, pool is not 47 meters it has an island in the middle of it.
Breakfast was average and staff just ok.
Celebrating 60th Wedding Anniversary and the Hotel made our stay exceptional - upgraded room to 28th floor, provided all kinds of special touches including special desserts as well as special breakfast. Club level food and service fantastic, location is perfect, city of Singapore is wonderful.
One of the more affordable hotels in Singapore, not awful but not amazing either. The aircon worked well which was good and the hotel is opposite a hawker centre which has some good food! There’s also a bus stop a minute’s walk away which was useful for getting around.
The breakfast did not have a lot of choices but most of the hotels in Singapore don't event offer breakfast. The room was new, clean. The staff was very professional. The evening cocktails and snack is top. The cleaning service is also very good.
Great location close to the Rocher MRT station and Little India. Good value for money (all hotels in Singapore are expensive!) Excellent pool, kept the kids entertained for hours on those hot sticky days. Breakfast was varied and excellent.
We asked and got connected rooms for our family of 5. Very comfortable rooms and nice hotel in a great location. Special shout out to Mr Kenny the front office personnel who checked us in efficiently and comfortably.
I like the location. Lot's of shops and restaurants to choose from and still a short bus ride to the city center. The room is big compared to other hotels in Singapore
Bigger than most budget hotels in Singapore. Clean and with reliable housekeeping. No smoking, no strange smells. Relatively large bathroom. Nice, helpful staff.
A cozy and pleasant apartment at the heart of Singapore, next to the Downtown train line station. It's an apartment but the staff can provide hotel services.
